What, When, Where: The Colors of Summer
May 28, 2012

Shell pink, cool aqua, sunny yellow, marsh grass green…doesn’t the mere thought of that palette transport you to a peaceful Cape Cod beach? For the Perspectives column in our Summer 2012 New England Home’s Cape & Islands issue, we asked local designers to share pieces they love in these four summery hues. Tackling the assignment with gusto, the super-creative interior design trio at Hutker Architects–Abby Bart, Courtney Fadness and Julia Robertson–sent us more cool finds than would fit in our pages. Here are some of their picks, perfect for a contemporary beach house (or for infusing any abode with a shot of summer color).
Shell pink: Innit Chair by Innit Designs. “We love the rockin’ retro feel of these chairs! Park them poolside or position one in your favorite lazy reading spot–they’re comfy, portable, easy to clean and pure vintage.â€

Cool aqua: InOut 933 Table by Gervasoni. “The juicy turquoise sings of the ocean; the earthy glazed terra-cotta feels right at home against modern white matte steel. Although contemporary, the slat design is comfortingly reminiscent of the humble wooden picnic table. Available in both dining and accent size, this vibrant table will most surely invigorate any seating or dining group, indoors or out.â€

Sunny yellow: Marni Duvet from Serena & Lily. “Pull this duvet fresh from the line and snap it smartly upon your guest bed–pure sunshine!â€

Marsh grass green: Uonuon Porcelain Tile by 14oraitaliana. “Funky fresh is what we thought when we saw these tiles. They come in a variety of colors, allowing for endless combinations. We like the old-school, attic bunk, Cape Cod aesthetic…with a contemporary twist!â€
