Sneak Peek: Collector’s Table

What is it about human nature that leads people to collect? Collections are often telling of their owners’ interests, but, I think, they also say something about people in general. Almost everyone has some sort collection, whether it’s dishes or antiques or stamps. I personally love clocks…and antique Christmas ornaments…and small wooden boxes. Okay, maybe I have a few more collections than most people. My collections might even border on hoarding, but I feel as if I’m in pretty good company. Karin Lidbeck Brent’s blog post a while back, “Gorgeous Groupings,” highlighted some talented collectors.
In our upcoming March/April 2012 issue we feature Kim Deetjen, a principal at TruexCullins, in our Perspectives department. She was tasked with choosing three different types of tables that she would love to use in an interiors project. My personal favorite is the Collector’s Table from The Paris Series by Maxine Snider. This glass-topped table is the perfect display case for a small collection (or a large collection of small objects). Contained and organized, this table would work great in my house–but I might need more than one.
