Notes From the Field: Have a Seat
February 10, 2014
By Cheryl Katz
At our house, and at the houses of our friends and colleagues, of all the places in which to gather none is more popular than around the kitchen island. Ours, a six-foot-long, stainless-steel, restaurant supply model, is command central. It’s the place we use not only to prep food, but to read the newspaper, work on our laptops, pay bills, eat breakfast (and sometimes dinner) and, most importantly, to sit and talk for hours on end.
Which brings me to the point of this post. Of all the seating around the house, the stools that surround the island have become the most important. And though I haven’t found one to equal a down-filled easy chair, these are, in no particular order, my top ten favorites.
