Bright colors often make a bold statement (just check out Linda Merrill’s blog post on Honeysuckle as proof). But what of white? White Matter is a new exhibit on display at Boston’s FPAC Gallery which, as the show’s catalog describes it, explores the ability of white to be simultaneously simple and complex, densely opaque and atmospheric, quiet and bold. The exhibit will showcase work by Jill Grimes, Rachel Hellmann and my favorite Boston artist, Jennifer Caine. The show runs through February 25.

While searching for some furniture to fill up my new apartment, I stumbled upon this elegant Line Bar designed by Nathan Yong. It has two drawers, three open cubbies, a rack for stemware and a storage rack for twelve bottles. It’s probably one of the most eye-catching bars that I’ve seen, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Nathan Yong’s beautiful work. The Line Bar and other Nathan Yong designs are available at Design Within Reach in Boston.

Beautiful lines, sustainably made in the U.S.A, natural fibers fabric, what could be more loving to design lovers and the environment than the Cape Pogue sofa by Martha’s Vineyard Furniture Company? Perhaps a Cape Pogue house to go with it?
