What, When, Where: Oomph Takes Us to the Tropics
February 7, 2011
Is it just me, or was the world’s most famous groundhog in a really perverse mood this year? While it’s nice to think that spring may come early (and we New Englanders certainly deserve it), I’m too busy digging myself out of the last blizzard to get overly excited about Punxsutawney Phil’s recent prediction.
One herald of spring that does excite me is the brand-new collection of furnishings from Oomph: Harbour Island. For those of us who won’t be making an exotic midwinter getaway, it’s a virtual trip to the tropics.
Named for the vacation spot favored by Oomph’s founders, Louise Brooks, Amy Rice and Patty Hopple–in fact, they dreamt up the idea for the brand there–Harbour Island captures the bright and sunny disposition of the Bahamas. Here’s a peek at the Harbour Island side table and an of-the-moment ikat pillow, which Oomph debuted last week at the New York International Gift Fair.

Even before they upped the oomph quotient with Harbour Island, we thought the New Canaan, Connecticut-based company’s lineup of tables, chairs and pillows was plenty zesty. In fact, Oomph’s Newport console table recently graced the pages of New England Home’s Connecticut. In case you missed it in our “New in the Showrooms†department, here’s another shot of the sassy console, posing with a pair of Quadrille pillows.

And I can’t resist tempting you with one more piece of Oomph eye candy: the Southport coffee table in Synergy, one of sixteen mood-lifting colors on offer.
