Vitania Liscio: From the Ground Up!
May 10, 2011
I have fallen in love with a rug. It’s the kind of rug that is perfect for someone, like me, who has issues committing to color. It’s also the kind of rug that has me wanting to start decorating from the ground up! Well, from the floor up.
The Cyrille Rug from Crate & Barrel caught my eye last fall, and I haven’t been able to shake it since. I love that it is filled with all of my favorite colors, and that I can swap out accessories to complement it every time I feel like a change. Its transitional design lets me mix a little modern with rustic and traditional.
In search of inspiration for my projected scheme–a neutral base with color in all the right places, plenty of warmth and the right mix of old and new–I found some spaces that I adore. These designer rooms are interesting and inviting. I love Kay Douglass‘s coral wingback chairs, the collected look of David Jimenez‘s living room and the tranquility of a creamy room from DecorPad.
For my room’s base, I would start with pieces I already have or know that I will love for years. I have yet to invest in an antique dresser, but it’s on my Top 5 must haves. It’s perfect paired with a sleek sofa and a reclaimed wood coffee table.
The base: sofa from Pottery Barn; coffee table from Restoration Hardware; antique dresser from 1stdibs
Adding color is the fun part. Shopping at stores that have inexpensive options for vibrant accessories make commitment easy. The orange wingback chair is far from inexpensive, but I would love to work up the courage to own it! Well now, I think I have some shopping to do!
The color: window coverings and pillows from Pottery Barn; vase and rug from Crate & Barrel; wingback chair from Jayson Home and Garden
Thank you New England Home for inviting me to be a guest on your blog! It’s a pleasure!
