Rocksalt Studio
A MODERN APPROACH TO COASTAL LIVING
For decades, coastal interiors have leaned on the same visual shorthand. Seashells. Rope. Navy stripes.
From its inception, Rocksalt Studio (formerly Kelly Taylor Interior Design), has quietly eschewed that theme.
Architecture, proportion, light and material lead the process. The coast is present, but never literal. Instead of decorative references, the studio relies on restraint—spaces that feel open, balanced and quietly confident.
Natural materials anchor the work. Wood, textiles, plaster and stone create layered interiors that reflect the surrounding landscape without imitating it. Texture replaces ornament. Patina replaces polish. Materials reference the landscape, capturing the essence of coastal life rather than its clichés.
Light is treated as a design element in its own right. Open sight lines and restrained palettes allow spaces to shift throughout the day—bright and crisp by day, atmospheric by night. Decorative lighting is subtle, artful and calm.
The result is coastal living without a theme. No motifs. No decorative signals meant to announce “beach house.” Just thoughtful architecture, honest materials and interiors designed to be gathered in, loved in and shaped by memories over time.
This is modern coastal living at its most refined, because the most interesting coastal homes don’t look like the coast. They simply belong there.
