Universo Positivo Debuts

Lekker Home had just unpacked the latest additions to their showroom when I stopped over yesterday. They are the first store in the United States to debut the Universo Positivo collection from Ethnicraft. The collection was originally unveiled at Maison&Objet in Paris and it was such a hit they will be showing it at ICFF in New York this weekend.
Universo Positivo continues the Ethnicraft tradition of modern, high quality, and functional furniture with an eye on sustainability. The collection is simple and straightforward in design with a distinct Northern European sensibility.
What I found so appealing about these pieces is they were great quality at an obtainable price point. They struck me as the type of pieces you could invest in for your first apartment, but the timeless contemporary design would give these furnishings staying power as your taste and needs evolved. A coffee table that might take center stage in an apartment would still be appealing when used in the family room of a larger home down the road.
Here are a few of my favorites pieces from the collection.
The Turtle Tables come in three sizes that can be used singularly or grouped to form a larger surface. You have great flexibility with these in terms of choosing a variety of sizes and colors to mix and match if you like.

The compact size of the B-Desk made of solid oak and lacquered stainless steel is just large enough to host a laptop and a few office essentials. Replace your laptop with glasses, liquor, and an ice bucket and the desk is the perfect bar for a party!
Pair your desk with the sturdy Dowel Chair—these generous seats are also great around a dining table. The combination of steel and oak is really quite handsome.
These pieces can be seen at Lekker Home located in Boston’s South End.
