Stacy’s Style – The Holiday Rush
December 8, 2014
And now begins the rush to Christmas. By now I hope you’ve got your tree up and the wreaths are decorating the doors. For some it’s a whole house affair, but for others just a few touches will do. For homeowner Diane Burns in Westport, she knew she wasn’t going to be spending a whole lot of time at home during the holidays so she kept her décor simple, choosing bottle trees placed in lanterns in her kitchen. I can’t get over how super simple chic it looks.
A few weeks ago I was at the Wakefield Design Center To the Trade Days and met some of the most interesting people. The To the Trade Days started two years ago and they just seem to get better every time. Some of the highlights of this one included a talk and book signing by Barry Dixon, Stacey Bewkes interviewed Eddie Lee, Antonino Buzzetta and Sam Allen for the male perspective on design; and our own Kyle Hoepner interviewed designer Trudy Dujardin about her new book and sustainable design.
Last week I shared a room with a who’s-who of New York-area design. Mario Buatta sat behind me, Amanda Nisbet a few chairs away and Cindy Rinfret, Victoria Hagan, Bunny Williams, Charlotte Barnes, Maureen Footer, Tilton Fenwick and a host of others surrounded me for the 100th anniversary of the Decorator’s Club. It was nothing short of magical.
Yes, the photo shoots continue this time of year. Luckily, we got a few more in before homeowners put up their decorations. Two memorable ones were in Norwich, Vermont, and in Back Bay in Boston.
