Sneak Peeks: The Farmhouse Steps Out

A few well-chosen words by the husband sum up the nature of collaboration for a Middlesex County couple: “I’m all about function. My wife is about form. We make a good match.” When a background in engineering weds a passion for fine design, the result is a handsome, immensely livable home. And when the perfect pros—Boston architect Marcus Gleysteen, builder Steven Kosowsky of Dedham, and Newton interior designer Liz Caan—are invited to contribute their expertise, the project gets kicked up a notch. The result is a “contemporary chic” residence that is home to a visionary couple and their tweens (two girls nine and eleven). It’s both family-friendly and a little bit glamorous. From Schumacher’s pewter metallic grasscloth on the living room walls to the white-upholstered sofa and chairs flanking the porch fireplace, it’s as if they sent the classic farmhouse to finishing school. The story behind the project is featured in the September/October issue of New England Home, and we promise the photos alone will knock you out.
