Sneak Peek: dbO Home

When we were first married, my wife and I spoke dreamily about the possibility of starting our own business and working together every day as a husband and wife duo. Our shortcomings were scheduling and our inability to agree on what exactly it was we’d like to do with the rest of our lives. (If my wife asks, you didn’t hear it from me.)
In our upcoming Connecticut issue we feature a husband and wife who have struck the perfect balance: Dana Brandwein Oates and Daniel Oates run dbO Home from their workshop in Sharon, Connecticut. They have come up with a smart collaboration, where they focus on their own strengths. Instead of focusing on just one interest, they each peruse their own skills, and work collaboratively to combine the two. Dana’s focus is ceramics and Daniel’s is wooden furniture and sculpture. The pieces they work on individually are beautiful and artful, but when they collaborate, the finished pieces are truly striking.
