Sneak Peek: Bless This House

February 24, 2011

In our upcoming Spring issue of New England Home’s Connecticut we feature Michele and Lee Mergy’s home in Old Lyme. When the Mergys walked into a vacant church (the same church Michele had attended as a child) and saw the potential of what they could do with the space, they bought it. The Mergys stayed true to the church’s architecture, keeping the high ceilings, tall stained glass windows and tile floors. Michele kept the furniture neutral to enhance the stained glass windows and collected antiques and art from various religious traditions to fill the home.

Until now I never considered living in a church, but seeing the results of the Mergys’ work, the notion seems divine.
