Small Wonder in the Litchfield Hills

Jonathan Bee’s “700-square-foot dollhouse” in Washington, Connecticut, is both his studio and his muse. Bee, a writer, filmmaker, shopkeeper and artist, says he escapes to his cottage every week—on Tuesdays and Wednesdays—to work on his creative projects. (He lives in nearby Sharon, Connecticut and runs an antiques store with his partner, Kent Hunter, in Millerton, New York). The charming retreat is itself one of his most telling and personal works of art. Renovated from top to bottom, the little house is quite literally filled with treasures that Bee has amassed, refreshed and loved over the years. From collections to curiosities, he’s inspired by them all. And somehow, he’s managed to artfully furnish the place with them. See how he did it, and find out what he has to say about his passion for interesting things, in the Spring issue of New England Home Connecticut. Coming Soon!
