Michelle Cortizo: Gold Rush

September 3, 2013

Not that long ago anything resembling gold was considered outdated or too traditional. Inevitably many spaces (mine included) were stripped of all traces of gold soon to be swapped-out for variations of nickel or silver finishes. No worries, I understand your anxiety! When was the first moment you realized that the trend was taking a turn?

My first thought was, “What did I do with all my old hardware?”

Yes, gold is back not only in a bull market, but saturating home interiors in a big way. Let’s face it: gold is, and has always been, desirable. Warm and luxurious is hard to ignore. With that said, I decided to do a little day dreaming and share the lighting elements that I would love to acquire sooner rather than later.

First, the swoon-worthy Corsage Lamp from Arteriors is a beautiful example of unexpected grace and elegance. I would love to have this in my personal reading space or office.

Next up: The well-balanced, curvy-yet-masculine Westbury Mirrored Sconce from Circa Lighting.

This caged illuminator is an “Heirloom” by Hudson Valley and, wait…another opportunity to show off my filament bulbs!

I’ll end my daydream with The Mill Ceiling light from Circa lighting. The structure of this light will cast beauty beyond the fixture.

Don’t worry if you live in an all silver world; remember it’s no longer all or nothing!  Mixing finishes is not only acceptable, but can make your space feel more interesting and collected.
