Katy Elliott: Pumpkins Above The Door
October 4, 2011

The first fall I lived in Marblehead, Massachusetts, I fell in love with small pumpkins that appear above the front doors of historic homes in early October. The round orange jewels, lined in perfect rows of threes and sevens, add a whimsical but simple touch.
Pick-your-own pumpkin patches are abundant around New England and make a fun activity for kids and adults. Add in a hayride, warm apple cider doughnuts and you have the makings of a classic New England weekend.
