Last night, I went over to the BDC for the opening of the Carlisle Wide Plank Floors showroom. I have other plans for what I found in their great new space, so today I’ll focus on something I spotted while making my way there. As I walked past the Grange Showroom, I noticed a pop of color that I could not ignore. How fun are the neon velvet cushions on these traditional dining chairs?

I’m betting on lucky horseshoes and the success of a new textiles company called Pyar & Co. that I just found at the gift market in Atlanta. Silvery placemats and napkins, luscious throws and blingy pillows are just the sparkle I’m needing.

The Guilford Art Center is a well-known, highly regarded font of creative inspiration on the Connecticut shoreline—and beyond. As a non-profit, the Center provides both established and emerging artists a multitude of opportunities for education, innovation and exposure. Every year, the Center celebrates its mission and the best of the best by hosting a juried American craft show under tents on the picturesque Guilford Green. Although the show isn’t until next weekend (July 18-21), we wanted to give you a heads-up. Craft Expo 2013 marks the event’s 56th year and more than 175 nationally recognized craft artists have been selected to participate; the show typically draws more than 12,000 visitors over the long weekend. Artists exhibit in all craft media including ceramics, fiber (both wearable and not), glass, leather, metal, jewelry, paper, mixed media, sculpture, furniture and wood and more. It’s worth the drive.
