When our children were growing up, a favorite babysitter referred to us, not surprisingly, as the striped family. More often than not, Mary Jane would arrive to find our children in Hanna Andersson striped pajamas, Jeffrey in a Brooks Brothers striped shirt and me in a striped Agnes B dress. But the stripes didn’t stop there. There were stripes on the upholstery,  stripes on the tablecloths, stripes on the bed linens, and even striped toothbrushes. And though we’ve all moved passed our striped fixation (though I still love a good one) when I laid eyes on Linda O’Keefe’s newest book Stripes: Design Between the Lines, I couldn’t resist buying copies for the whole family.

I’m in a swoon over the lamps from Delightfull, a to-the-trade lighting company based in Rio Tinto, Portugal. Every one of their sleek, midcentury modern light fixtures is appealing, but I’m particularly enamored with the Coltrane line. Simple but bold, these dynamic pieces are as innovative and expressive as John Coltrane’s music.
