Designer Shelley Morris just told me about a fabulous new book: Celerie Kemble‘s Black & White (and a bit in between), published earlier this month by Clarkson Potter. To accompany her advice on decorating with a pared-down palette, Kemble chose more than one hundred of her favorite black-and-white spaces by fellow designers, including some of Morris’s work. The book would make a great holiday gift for the design lovers on your list–or yourself!

I don’t often think of leather as a floor covering, but I think I’ve fallen in love with this patchwork leather rug from Edelman Leather. I must admit that there is a soft spot in my heart for Edelman leather ever since I received a leather teddy bear in a gift bag during Media Week at the Boston Design Center. My daughter fell in love and it’s been bouncing around my house ever since.

I recently read that artist Rob Swainston would be an artist-in-residence this winter at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. I’ve been a fan of his woodblock and silkscreen series, but was really intrigued when I saw his printed fabrics, which, in my humble opinion, would make incredible designs for upholstery and fabrics for the home. All That is Solid Melts into Air puts forth a beautiful collection of blue hues that recall all the bright days of summer.
