Anthropologie is usually my go-to place for flowy frocks and pretty accessories, but their house and home offerings are equally eclectic and special. I love the assortment of hardware that’s newly in stock, so much so that I couldn’t just pick one favorite.
I love the natural, earthy look and feel of the Druzy Quartz Knob, which comes in turquoise or tangerine.

The stoneware Handpainted Blossom Knob is feminine and delicate, certain to bring a touch of spring into your home year ‘round.
Made of leather, brass and wood, the Sadler Knob is equal parts cool and country chic.

One of the most wonderful things that can happen at a gift show is to stumble upon a New England-based—and Massachusetts-made—company you didn’t know about before. That’s exactly what happened this past week at the NY Now Gift Show in New York City where I met Janna Ugone and Justin Thomas, the owners and creators at Ugone & Thomas. I immediately fell for their hand-crafted lamps and accessories, with their Birch and Journeys Graphite Nesting Table Set becoming a favorite, each of which is dated and signed by the artists.

Ah, college decor. The posters and electronics may have changed over the years, but the rules for decorating a dorm room or off-campus apartment are still the same: Keep it bright, edgy and inexpensive. As we prepared to send our favorite co-ed off to school today, we did our homework and picked up some essentials (a round red shag rug from IKEA; dark gray thirsty towels from Bed, Bath & Beyond; a microwave and a long, skinny LED desk lamp, both from Target). The cool extras, like this industrial wire shelf and neon planter, came from Urban Outfitters.

And just for fun: A Crosley three-speed turntable. (Find turntables ranging from $80 to $499 on the Urban Outfitter site, plus an impressive selection of vinyl).
