My favorite summer moment (so far): a refreshing wine spritzer enjoyed on the dock at my sister’s summer place in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York. What made it so memorable (aside from the company of my lovely niece, Rachel) was how cool my drink stayed, even as we sat lingering and watching the sun go down across the water. This, thanks to the outsize ice cubes Rachel had been freezing for us all weekend. Her secret: the King Cube ice tray from Tovolo. Made of durable silicone, the trays produce perfectly square 2-inch cubes that last and last. Once home, I promptly ordered four trays (they come in fourteen colors; I chose royal purple). Just in case the King Cubes aren’t big enough for you, Tovolo’s Colossal molds make 2.25-inch cubes! And if you prefer your ice cubes round, check out their really cool sphere trays. To find out more visit the Tovolo website.

I’m crazy for Amanda Nisbet’s new furniture and lighting collection for Niermann Weeks. Sleek, sexy, with bits of the traditional and modern, the mix is much like the designer’s own work, which I would describe as edgy-traditional. My favorite piece would be the Cielo Chair with its bamboo accents and curves, but a close second is the chic Palm Chandelier

Westport, Connecticut is well-known for its fabulous shopping and a recent trip there certainly did not disappoint. I had a great time power-shopping through many fabulous interior design shops. This was the first time I had paid a visit to White Birch Studio, and I loved it. With its cool art, interesting accessories, and eclectic furnishings, this is a must-see shop for design aficionados. It is located in Sconset Square next to the equally fabulous HB Home and Bungalow. Go visit and make an afternoon of it!
