Editor’s Miscellany: Miles to Go

October 11, 2012

By Kyle Hoepner

Thoroughly colorful (in so many senses of the word) interior designer Miles Redd will be in Connecticut next Wednesday evening to introduce his brand-new venture in the publishing world, The Big Book of Chic, just out this month from Assouline.

You can catch him from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 17 at The Antique & Artisan Center in Stamford—not to mention pick up a signed copy of the Big Book for yourself—but only if you RSVP today: see the link at the bottom of this post. [Note: RSVP deadline has been extended until Monday, October 15.]

A man who seems always to be moving at light speed, Miles was kind enough to spare me thirty seconds for a mini-interview about his lavishly produced (what else?) tome: Q: What is your favorite photo or project shown in the book? A: That is a hard one. They are all special to me—that is why they are in the book. I do love the cover photo of the zebra door (once you take the dust jacket off) and, on the back of the jacket, the picture of the French chair.

Q: Will your readers learn anything about Miles Redd that may surprise them? A: I hope so…I try not to take myself too seriously.

Q: What is the main point you would like your book’s readers to take to heart? A: I hope it leaves them inspired.
