Design in Depth: Design Blog Favorites

Blogging requires inspiration sometimes. There are a number of blogs I turn to each week for beautiful images, words and ideas. Let me remind you that these are a FEW of the blogs I love and I couldn’t possibly list all that I browse, but I find these independent points of view have a lot to say about life and style. Here they are in alpha order.
All the Best Blog
All the Best Blog is like a witty version of Wikipedia for the design world. Need to know something about a designer or interested in a certain style? Start here. Editor Ronda Carman has profiled the best in the business since starting her blog in 2007. Better than any old Top 10 list, her new column asks designers how they would spend $500 or less.
Elements of Style
Acerbic wit, brutal honesty and a great eye are Erin Gates’s tools for her well-read blog. An interior designer, Erin mixes her design adventures and challenges along with fashion, critiques and personal essay to make for one of the most compelling reads online.
Need to know what the latest products or home trends are? Create Girl to the rescue. The Boston-based “redesigner†and social media guru shares ideas, events and designs daily. Be sure to look for her column “Typography Tuesday†that explores using typography in home décor.
The Buzz–Diane James Home
If Town and Country magazine had a blog, this would be it. Like its author, Carolyn James, who with her sister, Cynthia, and mother, Diane, make up the Diane James Home team, the blog and its contents are beautiful, well-bred and done with an educated eye. The simplicity and design are also sublime.
When I start to feel like I’m seeing the same things over and over I head to the Australian blog VT Interiors to comb through the collection of beautiful images assembled here.
From Monday’s Pop of Purple to the Random Chanel Item of the Week, The Zhush is the blog with that extra “something.†Visually delicious with well-chosen photography and witty honesty, it’s the most gorgeous, least intimidating blog out there.
