Take a 1950s former auto showroom (think tall windows and a curved façade) and two sisters with a love of landscape and interior design (Sue and Maureen Walsh; corporate dropouts needing to do something more creative with their lives) and you have a beautiful new store in Belmont, Massachusetts to visit, called Artefact Home & Garden.

Outside are gardens while inside you’ll find beautiful upholstered furnishings by Verellen. The store features a mix of industrial, organic, colorful and comfort-oriented offerings.
Soaring ceilings give ample room for large chandeliers.
Tabletops are styled with collections.
The sisters have also added art, like these watercolors by local artist Nancy Hart.
Here’s their take on the classic Back Bay window box—they’ve turned it into a table that would be perfect for a kitchen project.
