Politically motivated to seek out some elephant accessories the home.
We tend to shy away from politics in the magazine, and on the blog, but the kickoff of the Republican National Convention has us thinking about elephants—ceramic, fabric, and more. Elephants have traditionally symbolized strength, honor, and patience, and they are also considered to be a symbol of good luck and good fortune. So regardless of your political bent, elephant prints or objects can be a welcome addition to your home.
Here are some stylish elephant options:
Green elephant salad plates from Scully & Scully will add a fresh note to any table setting. Layer the pattern with crisp white china and rattan placemats—then add-in some fresh pink flowers. You will have a simple and chic summer tablescape ready in minutes.
This rattan elephant hamper seems to be on-trend as the hamper-of-choice for the nurseries of the design blogging set. This provides a whimsical spot for putting the endless parade of soiled baby clothing waiting to be washed. Or, put it to work as a toy bin.
Jonathan Adler’s ceramic menagerie collection features a stylized elephant that will add a dose of Adler-happy to your home. Stick it on a bookshelf, or place it on a tray on your coffee table, and instantly update a room with its contemporary look.
These classic elephant garden stools found on 1stdibs are investment pieces that would work inside or out. They are just the right size for resting a drink or a displaying a potted plant.
Elephant symbols have long graced fabrics, particularly those with Anglo-Indian inspiration. These patterns will bring a feeling of exotic travel and far-flung places to any room.
