In a world where the Kon Mari method has everyone sorting, purging, and getting down to basics. Eddie Rossâs book Modern Mix feels refreshing. The book is part thrift shopping handbook, part entertaining inspiration, and part decorating guide. No matter the topic Eddieâs approach is light hearted and approachable.
His unabashed joy in the hunt gives us permission to go ahead and collect and indulge in the beauty of the everyday. After reading the book, I have released all my guilt for owning way more than my fair share of china. Â Now I just need to follow Eddie’s lead and build-up my stable of vintage linens and fabrics to go with all of it.
The book is not just inspirational, there are plenty of practical âhow-tosâ thrown in amongst the colorful photos. The book provides straightforward advice on collecting and restoring vintage and antique pieces. From a DIY method for cleaning china with a fizzy Efferdent tablet, to knowing when to call in the pros, his advice will save you time and help you see the potential in pieces you may have otherwise passed-up.
Eddie seems to attract a crowd at all his book signingsâperhaps it’s that big smile that’s the draw? The next one is scheduled for this Thursday, October 15 from 6:30 p.m. â 8:30 p.m. at Hudson in Boston. This might be the excuse you need to head over to Bostonâs South End and visit one of the best home furnishings and decor shops in New England. I will definitely be on hand to have my copy signed!
Book singing at Kayce Hughes in Nashvilleâlooks like fun!
