Leave it to the refined and elegant website The Line to uncover the “Neverending Glory” collection of hand-blown glass chandeliers by the Czech duo Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus for the Prague-based firm Lasvit. Each of the five pieces in the collection takes its inspiration from one of the world’s grand opera houses. Shown here, Neverending Glory La Scala. Molto bello!

I first came across Providence artist Hilal Minda’s New Moon Studio and her wheel-thrown ceramics when I was searching for a gift for a knitting friend. I ordered one of Minda’s clever yarn bowls—a pretty bowl with holes placed strategically in the side to let a knitter keep the various colors of yarn from tangling, and keep the balls of yarn from rolling away. When the custom-crafted piece arrived I was delighted with its quality and entranced by the richness and depth of the red and purple glaze I had chosen.
Now I’m thinking I may have to treat myself to a set of dishes with that same glaze. These wheel-thrown plates will make a real impact on my dinner table.

You have probably seen photographer Peter Vanderwarker’s work in any of a number of design magazines produced in New England. He has been creating characteristically striking images of all aspects of the built environment for quite some time. But you might not know that he also treats purely natural subjects in the same analytically fascinating way—which means you’ll want to check out “Interventions,” a show of Vanderwarker’s work currently on view (through March 29) at Gallery NAGA in Boston.
