Design in Depth: Dreamweavers

Ever since I saw the debut of Lance Wovens at the New York International Gift Fair a few years ago I’ve been obsessed. A few months ago I had the chance to visit them in their Norwalk, Connecticut, showroom to see their entire–yet always evolving–collection.
Owners, husband-and-wife team Stefano Bruni and Anne Arnold, have a preppy-chic way with the glove-soft, brilliantly colored leather they have woven for them in Mr. Bruni’s native Italy. The woven leathers are then made into gorgeous pillows in solids, plaids and stripes, recalling English and Americana designs.
Besides pillows, they also cover benches and stools with the woven leather, and in a sturdier weave they craft amazingly stylish tote bags. One of their newest products is a delectable woven leather throw backed in cashmere. It would be the ultimate après-ski investment!
The colors and patterns seem endless and now the couple also offers woven leather by the yard for designers’ projects.
If you’re as lucky as I am, when you stop by (call first!) you might also get to meet their handsome springer spaniel.
