Much to my mother’s chagrin, I did not inherit her green thumb. While she and most of my other female relatives can grow almost anything (and do) in their carefully tended gardens, I can kill a houseplant faster than you can say ficus.

Still, I love the idea of this terracotta Maternity planter by Jean-Francois d´Or for Ligne Roset, with its large pot for a full-grown plant and smaller, independent-but-connected container in which to cultivate a cutting. I’m sure it would look just beautiful in someone else’s garden.

If ever you want to get away from everything and disappear (literally), consider a trip to a tree hotel in Sweden for your next vacation.

The Swedish architecture firm Tham & Videgard Hansson Arkitekter used mirrors on the outside of the treehouse structure to reflect the surroundings, making the hotel practically invisible. The tree hotel is a 4x4x4-meter box that includes a double bed, a small bathroom, a living room and a roof terrace. You can enjoy a wonderful 360-degree view of your surroundings while being completely hidden from everything and everyone.

Colorful, graphic and at times completely irreverent, I love the look of Gorham, Maine, textile designer Erin Flett’s pillows. Wavy stripes, organic-looking prints and forest animals are just a few of her themes that are hand-screened onto natural bark cloth.
